Estimate Turning Movement Counts (TMCs) from AADT or Link Volumes
The Arterials.co AADT to TMC Estimator helps traffic engineers generate planning-level turning movement volumes using:
- AADT volumes,
- directional link counts,
- upstream/downstream roadway volumes,
- K-factors,
- PHF,
- and assumed turn percentages.

The tool is designed for situations where formal turning movement counts (TMCs) are unavailable, incomplete, outdated, or unnecessary for the level of analysis being performed.
Typical use cases include:
- preliminary traffic impact studies,
- intersection capacity analysis,
- conceptual transportation planning,
- low-volume development review,
- and screening-level operational analysis.
The estimator applies user-defined turning percentages to directional roadway volumes and performs downstream volume balancing checks to help validate estimated traffic movements.
Features
- AADT to turning movement estimation
- Link volume to TMC conversion
- PHV conversion using K-factor and PHF
- Directional balancing checks
- Visual turning movement diagram
- PNG export for reports and analysis
Disclaimer
This tool provides planning-level estimated turning movement volumes only and is not a substitute for field traffic counts, engineering judgment, or formal transportation studies.
