Arterials is an independent transportation engineering consultancy specializing in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and mobility analysis for public and private sector clients.
The practice focuses on Traffic Impact Assessments, transportation planning, traffic operations, parking analysis, peer reviews, GIS analysis, and related transportation engineering services for development projects, municipalities, engineering firms, and public agencies.
Approach
Arterials places a strong emphasis on quality, technical accuracy, and well-documented engineering work.
Every study is prepared with the understanding that it may be reviewed by planners, transportation engineers, approval authorities, or independent reviewers. Careful analysis, engineering judgement, and clear technical documentation are therefore given priority over simply completing work as quickly as possible.
Principal Engineer
Arterials is led by Ubaid Ali, a transportation planner and traffic engineer with experience across Canada, Pakistan, and the Middle East. His background spans transportation consulting, government agencies, and multidisciplinary engineering firms, supporting public and private sector projects in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and mobility analysis.
Previous experience includes roles with WSP Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, The Urban Unit (Government of Punjab), and National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), working on transportation planning, Traffic Impact Assessments, transportation master plans, traffic operations, travel demand modelling, and public transit studies.
Public & Private Sector Experience
Experience from both the public and private sectors provides an understanding of the complete review process.
This includes preparing transportation studies for private developments, reviewing submissions on behalf of government agencies, contributing to transportation master planning, and evaluating technical reports and engineering proposals.
Having worked on both sides of the process provides valuable insight into the level of analysis, documentation, and engineering judgement expected during technical review.
